What are SureSmile aligners?

What kinds of alignment issues can SureSmile correct?

SureSmile treatment can correct many of the same issues as traditional metal braces. Some examples include:

• General misalignment

Sometimes traditional metal braces are the best treatment option. Because metal braces use individual brackets affixed directly to each tooth, that can create specific types of force that can help with complex alignment issues. Am I a good candidate for SureSmile aligners?

Once Dr. Ahuja determines that your alignment needs can be met using a tray-based system, there’s also the matter of treatment compliance to consider. Aligner trays work by creating gentle pressure that slowly moves your teeth into improved alignment.

That process can only work while you are wearing your trays. You’re supposed to wear your clear aligners around the clock, and they should only be removed while brushing and flossing and when eating or drinking.

If you don’t consistently wear your aligners, your treatment progress will slow. This can extend the time it takes to achieve your desired outcome. 

On the other hand, keeping your teeth clean is far easier with tray-based systems, as there are no metal brackets or treatment wires to brush and floss around. When weighing your options, be sure to factor in the role that treatment compliance plays in the process.
